Gideon Sundbäck 132nd Birthday Morden inventor of zipper

 

 Gideon Sundback was a Swedish-American electrical engineer.Gideon Sundback is most commonly associated with his work in the development of the zipper. Gideon Sundback full name was Otto Fredrik Gideon Sundback, was born April 24, 1880 at Sonarp farm in Ödestugu Parish, in Jönköping County, Småland, Swede. He was form  a prosperous family. His Parents was Jonas Otto Magnusson Sundbäck and Kristina Karolina Klasdotter. He start his education in Sweden and then moved to Germany.  In 1903, Sundback took his engineer exam. In 1905, he emigrated to the United States.  Sundback married Elvira Aronson in 1909 daughter of the Swedish born plant manager Peter Aronsson.

Gideon Sundback started started his work in 1905 at  Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The name zipper was created in 1923 by B.F. Goodrich.
